santa monica is nice, the Getty (museum) is great. disneyland is worth it, knott's berry farm is not.

I completely second Allie here on this - she is right about Knotts Berry - what a complete waste of time and tourist dollars.  My one and only trip to SoCal, and that was my only real complaint of the whole trip - mind, this was back in '84 or so, but Knotts was a complete disappointment and waste of time.

I agree.  Don't come here if you're French.   Kiss  The 'Good Ol' Boys' will get ya!  Have you ever seen Deliverance?

You have good taste here.  I have seen this a couple of times, and still do not know whether to cheer or shiver when thinking about this show.  I think this was one of the first movies starring Burt Reynolds.
I remember also, for the Atlanta Olympics, Jeff Foxworthy had a song, and it included lyrics of the French kayaking team on the river.
hehe, have to hear it to enjoy it.

Hello,

Thank you (especially Allie) for the nice pieces of advice. I have carefully taken notes and will avoid unnecessary places while trying to include others.

Any advice on best area / district / barrier to find an hotel in SFO?

Silver.paladin, what do you mean by "Do visit Governor Schwarzi"? That I should ring his bell and ask for sharing a cup of coffee with him?

Eric.

If I remember well, there is in California a very impressive giant sequoias forest... the biggest of them fell some years ago, I am wrong?

Regards,
Eric.

Actually, yes, I do mean that.  I myself have open invitations to visit with the DA of California in Sacremento, and Arnie, though he often does have a busy schedule, also tries to keep an open door for visitors, especially non-USA visitors.  Myself and a friend are thinking of going to SoCal perhaps early next year, and we have already been told that we can try to pop in and say hello to the Gov, though at the moment there is no promise he will be available, but we are free to try.

ohhh, on the second-hand, now that I think about it, don't tell him you are from France, as he has been known to not be completely happy with girly-man.  hehe, that was a funny speech.
