Title: service for members: hosting avatars Post by Ralph Herold on Jun 29th, 2004, 12:07am Dear members, Over time, I noticed that different people have problems with their avatars. Some providers seem to cause trouble, others do not wish to sign up just to upload a 1KB image file. Therefore, I have decided to offer hosting avatars for this forum. If you are interested, just send me your avatar. I will upload it and let you know the URL to access it. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by mintcollector on Jun 29th, 2004, 4:34pm Thanks Ralph, I sent you mine. All the free web hosting sites now have blocking tools to directly prevent linking to them. Since I host very little else, I cannot justify signing up for hosting service for just an avatar. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by Ralph Herold on Jun 29th, 2004, 6:57pm You are welcome, guys. The first avatar has been hosted already. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by TerraFrost on Jun 29th, 2004, 8:25pm grrrr! it took me two friggin hours to kill diablo with my lvl 30 paladin (i had a lopsided paladin, so i had to use a bow and arrow, heh :))!!! i don't want to spend another 2 hours!!! anyway, i think the hosting of avatars is a nice idea - thanks :) |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by van8888 on Aug 8th, 2004, 2:35am What size (in pixels) should the avatars be? My AIM one is showing up blurry, b/c the AIM avatars are smaller, so the bulletin board "stretches" it. I can resize it, but I need to know the size to make it. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by Ralph Herold on Aug 8th, 2004, 2:57am van8888: Welcome back! The size is 65x65 pixels. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by mintcollector on Aug 10th, 2004, 1:29pm I vote Alexis takes over the fabled "boobies.gif". At least it would give us something interesting to look at when he posts (just kidding Alexis...couldn't avoid the opportunity to poke fun). |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by furiousavatar on Nov 26th, 2004, 8:01am Just so all of you are aware. Geocities (yahoo) Offers a free web hosting service which has pop ups and banners. However looking at a direct photo causes no spam. For any one tat just wants to host a photo free Use geocites. this is how I stay with in the boundries of my own web site actually. |

Anthony: Your dad meant to email Ralph the image. Giving him the path of where it is on your hard drive will not help him get it up there for you. Ask your dad to help you get the image to Ralph. |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by GraueEminenz on Dec 7th, 2004, 9:46am No offense, spartan65 ;) But your Dad is a Computer ignorant. (Do not worry he knows how I mean it ;)) You have to send this 'icy.gif' file to Ralph's email address. He stores it on a server and lets you know the URL. Mark it and copy&paste it into your Profile ('I have my own Pic') Hope this helps Greetings Jan |

Title: Re: service for members: hosting avatars Post by victorcamp on Dec 7th, 2004, 5:32pm Or... His Dad meant it as a learning challenge: explore what the computer can do and how you get things from A to B. For most kids nowadays its fun and neat! 8) (Neat is my word, not necessarily theirs. [smiley=laugh.gif] ) |
