Manga Burst: The new Portal set

Inquest magazine supposedly had exclusive coverage of WOTC's new starter game. This set will feature all manga style art and have some rule changes.
All I have to say is...Yuck!

If you have a 3-word name and the 1st and last words start with an 'M', go away.

...oh and by the way. It's all a lie.
From the Inquest website:
ANIME MAGIC?
The real lowdown on InQuest 115's Manga Burst
Well, hopefully you’ve come here after reading our ultra-exclusive Manga Burst preview in IQ #115 but BEFORE you gave Wizards of the Coast customer service a buzz, cuz ...
A)That’s what the article said to do
B)More importantly, while the CCG world is being overwhelmed by anime, WotC already has its crossover into the world of cartoon dragons, cybernetic robots and big-eyed monsters with 10,000 power. It’s called Duel Masters.
In other words, consider it an October fool’s joke, fellow cardfloppers!

Anyone who has the urge to take Inquest seriously should beat their head against the nearest hard object until the feeling passes.

i think they have a valid concern over magic thats why they are poking fun at it all they have to do is change the art to manga and its almost pokeman or yugio my son who will be 13 in january thinks magic is easier than the kids ccg. He's played them he sayus there is just more crap cards in magic lol

Now I'm mad. I thought that whole thing was so funny that it would be cool. I thought all you stupid ultra-serious magic gamers out there were finally going to get the kick in the face that you all diserve. But alas, stupid inquest got my hopes up for nothing and now I'm gona go beat some one up. You are probobly the same people that heard that as soon as Kamigawa was Japanese themed you went boohoo it's goin anime on us I'm gona quit, sobsobsob. I guess I'll have to stick with my manga proxy's for my cards to satisfy my urge to shove my foot up your prosterior ends for taking all the fun out of...oh I hope I don't get killed for saying this...but...well...A GAME.

We had a whole discussion on Kamigawa when we first heard. It was about 50/50. That post didnt even make sense - I mean seriously, you registered just to tell the entire community that we suck?

uhm .... ok .... I don't follow this thread. I am not a "serious" MTG player or collector. I'm just having fun learning and selling a friend's large collection.
Inquest is a joke, right? Making it look like Yugio or whatever and kinda poke fun at the ultra serious types?
Anime art lovers are the most serious I've ever seen, and most of the MTG lovers I know also are into Japanese Anime and whatnot. Am I missing something here??

Yes, you are missing something here. We all are. We are missing DarthAsshole's point (mainly because there isnt one). Everyone was worried that Kamigawa would ruin Magic. It didnt. It had a Japanese theme, not an anime theme, and the art didn't look like anime art - it looked like Magic art with a Japanese theme. The mechanics didn't go bad, and get like Yugioh or anything. Seriously though, everyone knows you can't trust most things InQuest prints, it was supposed to be a joke (obviously).
DarthWhatever: we play games for fun too. We think figuring things out about print runs, and collecting rare cards, and misprints is fun. To each their own. And if you don't like those things, this isn't the site for you, and there is no need for you to come in here and flame us for it.
