2005 Arena Land packs

I recently received my packs of 2005 Arena lands. As was previously discussed, they come in packs of 8, not 5. However, they are not random at all. My first pack contained one each Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forest, in that order (WUBRG, numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 respectively). The other 3 (in a addition to a set, of course) are a Plains, an Islands, and a Swamp.
The significance of this is that the packs are not random at all - they contain a loop of WUBRG - thus, by knowing what card is on top of the pack (and they are different), you can tell what the other 7 are by following the loop. Thus, in my second pack, which has a forest on top, and is still sealed, the second card must be a plains.
Just thought you might want to know.
(on a side note, I must now compulsively collect one of each of the 5 different sealed packs... )

Hi Evan
I did not received mine yet,but that's bad news especially if there are 5 Different packs(Are you sure only 5 Different?).The New distribution looks like a headache to collect them all,but if I understand you correctly, the 5 Sealed Boosters have 5 different cards on top,am I right?

Yes, as far as I can tell, there are 5 unique packs, one for each different land type:
The pack with a Plains on top: WUBRGWUB (1 2 3 4 5 1 2 3)
The pack with an Island on top: UBRGWUBR (2 3 4 5 1 2 3 4)
The pack with a Swamp on top: BRGWUBRG (3 4 5 1 2 3 4 5)
The pack with a Mountain on top: RGWUBRGW (4 5 1 2 3 4 5 1)
The pack with a Forest on top: GWUBRGWU (5 1 2 3 4 5 1 2)
Thus, by looking at the top card, you can tell what the other 7 are by opening it (as I said, its a loop). I have opened a green pack and a white pack to confirm this.

As a tournament organizer, this new system kinda sucks. Based on what packs you receive in your prize kit, you can receive twice as many of one type of land as another. For example, we received packs 1 and 2 (according to Celebrindor's system). So, this means we received 4 islands, 4 swamps, 3 plains, 3 mountains, and only 2 forests. Out of 16 cards, it would have been nice to receive 3 full sets.
My problem is that I try to be as accomidating to my players as possible in handing out the land cards. Green decks are very popular here and so everyone wants the two forests. I gave those out randomly, but it created an artificial sense of rarity amongst the players.
Does anyone know the reason for this change on the part of Wizards?
