I am fortunate enough to know people who were at the WOTC investment/corporate product kick offs.  Carti Mundi poker decks were given out to investors as well as other promotional details (I know because he gave me one of his sealed decks for free), but individual cards were never handed out as promotional items to the best of their knowledge.

Mike posted this in one of the Off-Topic threads, but I thought it might warrant discussion. Previously, and as documented on the website, these decks were thought to have been given only to WotC employees.

  • Does anyone know of other ways of getting the Carta Mundi Poker Decks?
  • How many decks might have been given out? The site says 100, and I've seen people mention 50.
  • Were there any other interesting items given out at these investor functions?

I got mine from Peter adkision. I know that he handed a lot to his friends.
I also know that Carta Mundi made them for WOTC. Wotc did not ask to have them made in the beginning carta Mundi did it like a joke since there major job is to make casino cards.

I also rember that 100 decks sounds right but they could of made more.

hope this helps

Only 100 made?? That's sounds really low to me, I must have had an extreme luck to get mine, sealed.

I just spoke to my co-worker who gave me the Carti Mundi cards.  Couple things.  First off he believes he has a second deck still sealed, will try to find it, and is willing to sell it should anyone here be interested (this is of course pending on Dave to find it and if he does and I have no decent offers I will sell it on eBay for him).  Second is that he knows that those uncut sheets of the whole print run were given out to investors.  He had 3 of those sheets but sold them a long time ago.  Thirdly is that I asked him to check with his friend who was one of the WOTC investors to see what other items, if any, were given out to investors.  His friend is currently in Egypt but is due to return a few days, so hopefully I will have an answer as to what else might have been given out.

I also wanted to bring to light the reason why I posted what investors were given as there was speculation that Alpha/Beta actual product in the form of singles outside of boosters and starters may have been given out to investors.  I asked Dave this very question and he said he never heard of this happening, so doubts it was very likely.  This question needed confirmation as it would skew the numbers we are trying to compute of distribution ratios based off of Crystal Keep's published numbers.
