Starter 2 Player Starter Set Cards

Starter is the fourth and last starter level product which has been distributed in boosters. It was released in July 1999 and exists only in English, a last attempt to establish a profitable series of starter level products. Starter is basically a reprint set, consisting mainly of reprinted cards from Portal, Portal Second Age, and different editions of the Core Set. In addition, Starter introduced 26 new cards, some of which have been reprinted in the meanwhile, for a total of 173 Starter cards, all featuring a white border.

Aside from boosters, Starter has been distributed in 2 Player Starter Sets which also exist in an enhanced version, called Starter Gift Box, with additional contents:

  • 80 Starter cards divided into 2 decks (2 x 40)

  • 1 enhanced rule book with 6th Edition rules

  • 1 player guide which covers 1 demo game

  • 2 playmats to explain the different game zones

  • 2 glass life counters

  • 1 Angel of Light poster

  • 1 instructional video (Gift Box edition only)

  • 1 oversized Starter Thorn Elemental card (Gift Box edition only)

8 of the Starter cards are not available in standard Starter boosters and hence can be considered non-standard cards. 7 of these cards are also available in Starter Demogame boosters.
